The season of the La Tena Big 3 Ring Wild Animal Show has been the most successful in the history of the organization and closes with a record of thirty weeks of satisfactory business. In every section visited, although practically unknown, it established a reputation for absolute cleanliness and genuine merit that will hold it in good stead on subsequent visits. The Show opened at Havre de Grace, April 19th, and from the start business was beyond all expectations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Ohio business was fair but Michigan and Wisconsin was a succession of crowded houses. On the return Iowa and Ohio yielded fair returns and then invading the eastern shore, a section dangerous to any show in times past present conditions made the tour history in the circus business. Packed houses both night and day ruled in every stand, and this was true of the closing weeks in Virginia and North Carolina. The weather was ideal with the exception of one week. The season was devoid of serious accidents and but few changes were made in the departmental heads and big show. Noted visitors were Geo. Ade who enjoyed the show as much as the reader does his stories: Opie Reed and John F. Stowe formerly associated with Governor Downie. There was absolutely no friction from bosses down, everyone worked for the interests of the show. Andrew Downie is to be congratulated upon his shrewd showmanship and the success that attended his efforts and those of his efficient general agent Bert Rutherford were well deserved. - Fletcher Smith.
