Ringling Brothers and Van Amburgh's
Combined Circus and Menagerie, Route 1889
From: Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows, Inc. Route Book for 1946. Sarasota, FL: F. B. Kelley, Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus, 1946. Permission to place the information from this route book on the Circus Historical Society website has been provided by Feld Entertainment, Inc., Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey.
Editor's Note: A feature of the 1945 Circus Route Book was a compilation of the old Barnum routes from 1871 through 1918, the season before the combining of Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth and Ringling Brothers World's Greatest Shows. Bill Chipman, a member of the editorial staff of the New York Daily News and a prominent circus historian, supplied the old Barnum routes and this year has compiled the old Ringling routes. In these tasks, he has been aided by other circus enthusiasts including John P. Grace, Chas. A. Davitt, Charles G. Sturtevant, Dr. H. H. Conley, Jenks Cameron, Alexander Clarke, Melvin D. Hildreth and Sverre Braathen.
